Bittersweet...

We await with excitement to welcome our son into our family within the next couple of weeks. I think that Laekin is realizing that it is coming soon as she has been helping me wash his clothes and get all the "baby" stuff ready. She picks up his clothes and says "so cute...baby brother." I had her feel my belly the other day and she felt him move- then a couple hours later she saw my bare belly (as he was moving) and pointed to my tummy and said "baby brother moving!" I asked her yesterday when her brother was coming and she said "soon." So fun. I cannot wait for her to meet him and love on him.

It is also somewhat of a bittersweet time as our lives are about to change a lot. It will never be the 3 of us again and we are taking in all the time that we have together these last few days. It is similar to when Jeremy and I had Laekin and we realized that it would not be the 2 of us anymore. Yes bittersweet. God blesses our lives with these "little people" that impact us deeply- more than we could ever imagine. I am so grateful.

I love these pictures that my friend took while at Taco Tuesday the other day. It encapsulates my thoughts.

Jen-it's Christy Green from Biola. I have tears in my eyes from your bittersweet post. I felt the same way just before our second arrived. I would just burst into tears overwhelmed with how much I loved Clara and how different our lives would be with two kids. I want to assure you that the Sweet part will be stronger than the bitter. You will melt when you see Laekin love and care for her brother. Blessings to all of you! We're praying for you as you welcome your son!

Hey Jen - I love your post about how strange a time it is just before your second is born. It's surreal knowing that never again will it be just the three of you. I remember it so well... being that it was just earlier this year that I was going through the same emotions. Once your little boy is here, it's like you couldn't imagine not having him be a part of your "family of four." Glad you took time to enjoy moments with just Laekin, and so glad she is eager to meet her baby brother. It will be amazing to watch them interact. Someone suggested to me to give the older sibling (an older sister especially) little tasks to help you with the baby - getting a diaper, burp cloth, putting lotion on. And it's made a huge difference with Iris relating to Jonas. Praying for you, friend! Can't wait to see pics of your new little one!
