Oh Christmas Tree...

It was a bit humorous trying to pick out a tree this year with Miss Laekin! After spending at least an hour at the tree lot, with me chasing around Laekin and trying to look at the trees Jeremy was holding out, and then not having ANY wipes to clean a poopie bootie.... we left with no tree. Then Jeremy took us home and he went out and picked the first tree he saw! Funny. Laekin had a great time helping decorate the tree... she wanted to take all the balls off once she put them on! We had hand popped popcorn and hot chocolate and marshmallows and listened to Christmas music!

Making life more simple....

We pushed "pause" this weekend and spent some down-time at our relatives beach house. It was just what we needed as a family... time together, relaxation, and some solitude. We enjoyed the simple pleasures of watching our daughter run on the beach, chase after the birds, pick up rocks, and run after the waves. At one point we could not keep her out of the water. She kept running towards the ocean with no fear or idea of the strength of the waves. We then just took her clothes off and let her run around in her diaper.... which lasted until she took a fall and got all wet...then she was done.

Here is Laekin last year and this year.... still not a big fan of the costumes! But she got over it quickly and had so much fun going trick or treating!

Surprise!!!

My sister and Silas (our nephew) surprised us and came out to California (from Haiti) for a visit! We all went to a family wedding together and then just spent time hanging out and catching up. It was wonderful to be able to have time with my sister and nephew. Laekin & Silas had so much fun together... Laekin loved to hug Silas whenever she got the chance. My parents also took them to a pumpkin patch- they loved picking out pumpkins and petting the animals! Thanks again sis for making the trip out. Love you.

After talking into the harmonica for while to make it work, she figured out how to play it...take a look!

Fun with Pumpkins & Ponies!

We took Laekin to the Irvine Regional Park today. We started off the day with a picnic under the old oak trees. Laekin was fascinated by the squirrels running around and birds flying by. She really loves being outside.

We headed over to the pumpkin patch where Laekin dashed (as fast a 1 year old can) from pumpkin pile to pumpkin pile. In between the touching the pumpkins, she would get distracted and start chasing after a another kid walking by...being the little social one she is.








Laekin went on her 1st official pony ride (other than her mama taking her down to the Shea Center to sit on the horses). She loved it! Here are some pics from her ride:







After the long day, Laekin was pooped! She had no problem napping in the stroller on the way out...

Girlies

Here is my friend Sunny. We played together the other day! We are great buds.... but we keep our mommies on their feet because sometimes Sunny and I want to play with the same toy and we sometimes get a little mad. I loved playing with Sunny's Little Mermaid push toy and Sunny liked to push me around the house. Look at the pictures below! love- Laekin

The Joys of Life

It is so hard to believe that a year has already gone by since Miss Laekin came into this world. The memory of her "Birth Day" and the days leading up to it are so vivid in my memory that I keep telling myself "it can't be a year yet." I read an entry in my journal last night from a few days after she was born. It still amazes me that God gives us women such an incredible way in which we birth our children into this world. After birthing Laekin, I have such a respect and awe for childbirth. What an amazing blessing and opportunity to be able to experience.

Now our little girl can walk, talk (a few words), give kisses and hugs, and dance. What more could we ask for. We love you Laekin.

Cupcakes & Ice Cream

Well, we celebrated Laekin's 1st birthday. Laekin had sweets for the first time...she got to indulge in a strawberry cupcake and some chocolate chip ice cream (but did not get nearly as messy as we hoped she would)! She was rather particular, just using one finger at first. Once she figured out how good it tasted, she shoveled the cake and ice cream a little more quickly into her mouth. Friends!

Here is Laekin with her two great buddies- Van and Ezra! Van is 6 months and Ezra is 3 months. I had the blessing and priviledge of being with their mommies as they brought their sons into this world. I will never forget the strength and determination they both showed. It was such an amazing experience to be a part of. Thank you again Dianne and Julie.

Weekend Fun.

This last weekend was filled with time spent with family and friends. We visited Jeremy's parents on Friday- where Laekin showed off her new walking skills (more about that later)! On Saturday we went to my parents house to celebrate my brother and his fiance's engagement! And then on Sunday we visited our dear friends. I started babysitting their beautiful daugthers Tabitha and Tristini when they were 1 and 3 (now 9 and 11)... they were also in our wedding....and now they get to play and love on Laekin who they adore so much.

11 months!

Good thing we only have one more month of these pictures.... they are pretty much impossible to do. Laekin just thinks its a big game!

Laekin's Favorites!

Lately Laekin loves getting into the pantry and pulling everything out.... my window of time to make dinner!


When she is not making a mess- she likes to push a chair around the kitchen. It is pretty funny to watch her. She is so determined and when the chair gets stuck she gets so mad!


Last night Laekin stood up without holding on to anything for the first time! She was squatting and then put her hands on her knees and then stood all the way up. She was so proud of herself.... it was so cute!
